Treatment of ADHD in adults

The exact causes of ADHD remain unknown, but many observations suggest that dysfunction in the catecholamine reuptake systems (dopamine and norepinephrine) at the level of cerebral synapses is at the core of the disorder.

Alterations in the circuits involved in reward and decision-making lead to the emergence of symptoms such as inattention (deficits in inhibition and executive functioning) and a reduction in motivation (intolerance to delay, boredom).

At CEETA, we consider two types of treatment:

  • Neuropsychological Approach :

Psychoeducation (thoroughly explaining the ins and outs of ADHD) and cognitive restructuring (cognitive-behavioral therapy), advice, and the implementation of hygienic-dietary measures.

    • Objective: Work on executive functions
  • Medicinal

Compensation for Biochemical Dysfunction: (dietary supplements, psychostimulant/non-psychostimulant medication).

    • Objective: Maintain an optimal level of cerebral dopamine

Following the diagnosis, the patient may undergo follow-ups with different members of our team at various levels :

During a consultation with one of our specialized general practitioners in ADHD or our psychiatrist, you can discuss a personalized medication treatment plan.
